FIPRESCI

Film critic, translator. Member of Armenian Association of Film Critics and Cinema Journalists, the National Section of FIPRESCI. Graduated from Philology Department of Yerevan State University with a specialization in belles-lettres and criticism. Since 1993 represents the best of the world cinema in his author’s program 8 ½ on Armenian Public TV Company. Worked in Andradardz weekly, had his rubrics in Ether, TV Channel, Hayastani Hanrapetutyun, 8 1/2, Zhamanak Yerevan newspapers. He is the co-author of the books Aznavour in Cinema (1993) and Francois Truffaut (1994). In 1997 was deputy editor-in-chief of Hayastani Hanrapetutyun daily. In the period from 2001 till 2006 prepared Cinema page in Azg daily. In 2003 was awarded by Private View IFF for the best representation about the festival. Since 2002 has been delivering weekly lectures on world cinema at Armenian Centre for Contemporary Experimental Art (ACCEA). Since 2005 is the editor-in-chief of Film Showing and Dub Department of Armenian Public TV Company. Many feature films and documentaries, as well as literature by Saroyan, Osborne, Albee, Pinter and others were translated into Armenian by him. In 2006 was the President of the Jury in One Shot, One Minute FF. He is in the Theatre and Cinema Committee of Armenian State Award.

Born in 1939 in the German city of Augsburg. Studies of Germanliterature at Stuttgart university. Works as film critic from the middle of the 60s, including for the national radio (Bayerischer Rundfunk). Authored books among others on Andrzej Wajda, Luis Bunuel, Nikita Mikhalkov and Andrei Konchalovski, Arturo Ripstein, Im Kwon-taek, Nagisa Oshima; two books together with Alexander Kluge. Programmer of the Munich International Film Festival, adviser for a variety of festivals. General Secretary of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) from 1987. Based in Munich, Germany.

Born in Budapest, in 1951.Diploma in philology of Russian language and esthetics at ELTE University, Budapest Worked at the National Filmarchive of Hungary as a specialist of Soviet moviesWrote and edited books on Soviet films and filmmakers. Author of numerous articles on this topic, for example on Eisenstein, Dovzhenko, Barnet, Askoldov, Norstein, Ioseliani and Paradjanov. Made one of the last interviews with Paradjanov and Smoktunovsky. Organised exhibitions on Paradjanov’s works and Eisenstein’s drawings. Directed some documentary films on Hungarian history and Russian art.
